"....stars fell in our plates." (Zelda Fitzgerald)
Texas Food Crawlers and the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts paired up to celebrate and share some of Austin's best BBQ at the Escoffier campus. Their picks include Live Oak, StilesSwitch and La Barbeque. Entertainment was provided by singer, Bob Apple, who charmed us with an eclectic mix of old and new country favorites.
The venue, Escoffier campus, is a gem hidden behind office buildings out by old Highland Mall. There is an exciting transformation when you walk through the gate into a sweet terrace garden with fresh flowers and simple picnic tables surrounded by organic herbs and vegetables.
Needless to say, I am already planning my next event, a paella cook-along, on their campus. With world-class chefs and a venue surrounded by farm-to-table gardens--I'm sold.
Be on the lookout! Texas Food Crawlers and Escoffier Chef/BBQ Guru, Paul Peterson, have made a documentary about their top Austin BBQ locales. See the Guru visit each site and give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse of some local treasures!
